Homeward Bound Day 4

April Fool's Day.  Undeterred, hit I40 early and got through Arkansas and halfway into Tennessee, near Nashville.  On the way, we passed Conway, "The Town of Colleges" and resisted the temptation to detour and visit (I swear!), Toad Suck Park. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/44

All was proceeding according to plan until we were caught in a jam on the highway 30 miles from our destination.  After sitting still for 30 minutes, we took the shoulder to the nearest exit and hit the side roads.  The highway began moving immediately, but we were committed.  There followed an hour-and-a-half and about 100 miles of backwoods Tennessee, gawking, bearded rednecks with squirrel guns and a lot of winding road.  Finally, we arrived at our hotel tired but unscathed, with the temp down to 82F.

"Long-distance operator, get me Memphis, Tennessee...."

These are in full bloom here.  Anyone know what they are?

Their flowers look like this.
