Virginia

Paul came down with flu-like symptoms, headache, fever, coughing and general punkiness.  About what you'd expect after a week of being trapped in a metal tub with four thousand strangers.  The bulk of the driving fell to Reggie today.   South through the Shenandoah Valley, Appalachians, past Lexington, skirted Appomatox, Roanoke (where we noted a sign for the Purgatory Emporium).  Between the rain and the fog, we just pressed on .

Picked up I40 just before Knoxville Tennessee (it sort of follows the old Route 66 path).  Pressed on to Cookesville for the night.

Next day, still in the hills of Tennessee and still foggy, we struck west to Nashville where the sky cleared, then on to Memphis.  The Canada Geese here are flocking and heading north, the Daffodil leaves are breaking ground already.  Crossed into Arkansas and stopped at Little Rock for the night.

At present, we're concentrating on getting somewhere warm and hope to visit some of these interesting places on our return in April.
