Christmas At Sea, Then Back On Dry Land

The absence of snow at this time of year, though striking, is surprisingly easy to get used to.  We breakfasted at sea in solitary splendour on the after-deck (apparently a sunny +21C is too cold for non-Canadians to sit outside).  Later we shopped for Christmas presents, settling for heavily discounted watches at the midships shopping mall.  We even managed to find a Turkey Dinner at the American Grill to round out the day en famille.

Then, a day of idling about, dinner at The Grand (excellent) followed by the Sonic Odyssey show in the Royal Theatre.  Different.

Landed back at Port Liberty this morning, quick brekkers in the cafeteria, then schlepped our own suitcases down to the single debarkation door (Really?  For 4,000 passengers?), shot through Customs (no one could get off) and out on to the street.  Phoned our Park to Fly lot who dispatched shuttle and got us handily back to our car.  Briefly back to Stefan's to collect remaining luggage and say farewells before hitting the road at 9:15AM.

Crossed over to I78 and pounded south out of New Jersey through Phillipsburg to Pennsylvania.  Past Bethlehem, Allentown, Hamburg, slid alongside the Appalachians, past Hershey, Reading, Harrisburg, on to I81 to Mechanicsberg, Perry County, Gettysburg (without stopping), through a finger of Maryland, a portion of West Virginia and finally in to Virginia west of Manassas and Washington D.C..  We settled for the night in Winchester at the Lee Jackson Best Western, not far from Jubal Early Boulevard.  They take their Civil War History seriously here.  Excellent road, sunny weather, 65F.  It's all good!

Except that we don't seem to be able to upload pics from this location.  Oh well, more later.
