St. Pete Day 3

Still trapped here by stiff on-shore winds, waves and a shallow harbour with a narrow channel to the sea.  Russia has closed the port, so there are now seven cruise ships here full of bored passengers.  In their defense, the waves in the harbour are sufficient to regularly bang our 1,000 foot long ship against the pier.  I wonder how many ships are outside, waiting to get in.  I suspect most will simply change their itinerary and go elsewhere.

Our captain thinks we might get away tonight and still make it to Finland, though Brugges is off the list now, much to the disappointment of Belgium, I'm sure.  One more day here will give a lot of people problems catching their flights out of Heathrow.
