Viareggio and the Tour of Tuscany

Drove west 40 minutes to Viareggio for a lovely day at the nearly deserted beach (school's in!). Reggie found a bouquet of roses in the Meditterranean (which I claimed to have arranged for) and after a sea-food plate for lunch, wandered back to Altopascio for some groceries (stores close from 1 PM to 3 or 4 PM every day). The town was agog with excitement because today was the day the Tour da Toscana comes through the town. A multistage women's bicycle race came through with team cars, water hander-outers, police escorts and a keen audience the race soon swept through town on Day 2 of the 5-day race. Italians do love their races!

The course marshall's car was, of course, a fire-engine red Ferrari
