Costa Fiori

Foray to Italia

Up the A8 to Italy (bring lots of coins for the tolls!) for lunch in beautiful San Marino. They built a Russian Orthodox Church here because the Tsarina used to visit.

Coast road (Costa Flori) to Ventimiglia and unsuccessful visit to archaeological dig (closed for lunch from 1-3PM) then back into France and rich Menton and even richer Monte Carlo.

Monaco from the Haute Corniche

Shorts and T-shirts being frowned on, we skipped the Casino and took the Basse Corniche to filthy rich Cap Ferat (no parking period). Visited the lighthouse and scuttled off back to Nice on the Corniche. Beautiful drive.

Supper on the seafront at Cagnes sur Mer (salad Nicoise) just in time to see not one, but two black Bugatti Veyron convertibles burble past ($2,000,000 right there) Reggie had been facing traffic and saw them first, to my chagrin. We quickly swapped chairs, but in the ensuing hour, the only exotic (for here) car I saw was a diminutive Fiat Abarth. Rats! Oh, well, maybe there’ll be more.
